On 29 June, Dr. Mateusz Krępa, researcher on the GAPs project, was invited as a guest on Polsat News, one of Poland’s leading news broadcasters. During the live program, Dr. Krępa offered expert analysis on the growing tensions at the Polish-German border, particularly in relation to the return of asylum seekers under the Dublin Regulation.

Drawing on findings from GAPs project, Dr. Krępa explained the legal frameworks underpinning returns from Germany to Poland. He clarified the distinctions between the Dublin III Regulation, bilateral readmission agreements, and border return practices involving individuals who fail to pass border control.

In the interview, Dr. Krępa also presented current statistics illustrating recent trends in cross-border returns and emphasized the importance of evidence-based policymaking. He encouraged the use of the GAPs statistical database as a reliable resource for journalists, researchers, and policymakers seeking to understand return dynamics in Europe.
